Panels and Parquet Flooring

Reclaimed parquet flooring, antique panels and newly aged oak in herringbone, chevron and Versailles layouts. Crafted from reclaimed and responsibly harvested European oak and finished in our Cheshire workshop. Each collection reveals its character through grain, tone and patina – qualities best understood by holding a sample in the hand.

Reclaimed Parquet Flooring and Panels

Parquet is a floor with intent, geometry and memory. What gives it presence beyond pattern is the timber itself. The grain direction, tonal depth, and the way a surface holds and returns light. The layout gives those qualities order. Pattern becomes a way of reading time, material and craft across the floor. When timber is reclaimed, that sense of time deepens. Oak reclaimed from barns and farmhouse structures up to three centuries old arrives with generations of atmospheric change already written into its surface. Reassembled as a herringbone pattern, chevron or a full Versailles panel, antique parquet flooring carries a visual gravity that newly milled wood cannot easily imitate. The colour and patina feel settled, yet still shift subtly with the hour. Each plank has already lived one life. Laid into a pattern, it begins another. We also produce parquet from newly felled European oak, including our aged oak and handmade French oak collections. These are expertly treated in our Cheshire workshop until the surface develops a settled depth before finishing. These floors capture the clarity of new timber alongside the tonal complexity and softened character of reclaimed stock. At Re:claimed, whether the timber is centuries old or newly felled and aged by hand, parquet carries the quiet majesty of antique precedent without pretending to freeze it in place. These are floors to be lived with, not simply admired.

Patterns, Construction and Finish

Herringbone and chevron are the oldest and most requested parquet layouts. Herringbone sets rectangular blocks at 90-degree offsets, creating a staggered rhythm across the floor. Chevron mitre-cuts each piece so the joins meet in a continuous, angled line. Both bring movement, direction and architectural discipline to hallways, living rooms and reception spaces. For rooms that call for a grander compositional scale, Versailles panels and their French counterparts – Chantilly, Chenonceau, Petit Marly, d'Aremberg – can be used as assembled units. Multiple oak sections are set within a frame, then installed as a single panel to give the room a more formal sense of proportion. All Re:claimed parquet wood flooring is available in engineered or solid oak construction. Engineered boards pair a reclaimed or aged oak top layer with a European birch-ply base bonded with WBP waterproof glue. This construction gives the floor greater dimensional stability, makes it suitable for underfloor heating, and reduces the risk of seasonal movement. Solid oak parquet flooring is cut from a single section of timber. It is often the preferred choice where depth of material, traditional construction, and future refinishing are important. Finishes range from unfinished boards coloured on site to workshop-finished floors, hand-oiled or waxed to your specification. In either form, parquet remains a deliberate act of composition: geometry held in place by the grain, colour and age of the wood.
