Description
The Checker Panel sets nine squares of reclaimed European oak inside a frame of four boards that turn around the panel. The grain changes direction from one square to the next, so the checker is drawn by the wood and the light. Every piece is graded by hand and assembled in our Cheshire workshop. It is shown here in a pale oak tone, which keeps the surface calm. Oak that has genuinely aged carries a subtle character only time can give, and each piece settles into its own warm tone beside the next.Available solid or engineered, on request. The engineered platform suits underfloor heating. The starting price is for unfinished oak, and we finish every panel to order.
Custom Made Samples
Compare construction, tone, patina and texture. Feeling the wood in your hand reveals the true character and quality of each surface. Our bespoke samples are made to order, with sizes varying around 25 × 30 cm. Sample purchases are redeemable as credit against flooring orders and are otherwise non-refundable. Please allow 3–8 working days for preparation.

The Parisian Collection

It all starts in the farmlands of Europe, where years of sun and rain have aged the surface of the wood, shaped the grain and created a natural patina. This reclaimed oak, aged circa 50 years, is graded by hand into long, slender pieces for traditional parquet and panel designs, and it continues the tradition of the floors in the grand homes and apartments of Paris.

Hand-Crafted in Cheshire

Each board is split to reveal its weathered outer face and the oak within, then calibrated to a deliberate tolerance. The surface stays roughly 70 per cent flat and 30 per cent skip-sawn, so light moves across the floor once it is installed, and gentle hand sanding keeps the patina of many years of weathering. Reclaimed floors are deliberate, and not perfect by design.
