The knots, undulations and grain distortion are not milled out or polished away — they are shaped to remain. This is intentional rusticity: the celebration of the material’s past, not the erasure of it. In selecting timber for this grade, 30–40% is rejected, because character is not a defect here; it is the very purpose of the floor.
